My Favorite {baby} Things
When considering this post I wanted to be sure to be authentic and share some items that we truly love and use daily, and I didn’t want to limit (or stretch) myself to a said number of items. Some of these items are more pricey, so I’ll share how we went about securing them for discounts. I’m a bargain shopper- the influx of expenses surrounding bringing a baby home is quite a lot... my advice, pace yourself.
Snuggle Me (Organic)- A snuggle me is basically a pillow with a hammock like suspension center for babies to sleep in. It’s unique shape mimics the comfort of mother’s womb and makes the baby feel secure. Sebastian has slept in the snuggle me every night since he was a week old. For the first month of his life all his naps ans bedtime were in the snuggle me. We have two covers so they can be rotated when washing occurs. Also, an added bonus is that the pillow itself can be tossed into the washing machine and dried in the dryer without damaging or destroying the integrity of the product.
The price tag is heavy on this, so let me let you in on a secret I discovered through a mom group on Facebook: buy on Thursday. Thursday mornings on their website they list items that are flawed at a deep discount on their “Imperfects” page. I bought the pillow for 50% off and I secured two covers as well. (Shipping was free) Here’s the catch, the sale isn’t announced... but I checked and usually saw inventory uploaded around 10am EST. It took me a couple weeks to perfect my shopping experience, so don’t get discouraged. Remember, shipping is free so you can check out multiple times to entire your item doesn’t sell out before you complete your purchase.

Cutie Pat and Clips- As a nanny I always played the “catch the pacifier before it hits the floor” game, and let me tell you how quick that game gets old! I can’t even remember how I found this company on Instagram, but I’m so glad I did. They began as a company that makes clips for pacifiers, then recently branches out and designed their own pacifier. I really like their modern look, and the fact that she releases them in different colors had me hooked! (Listen, there’s only so many ways a mama can accessorize a baby boy’s outfit.) Sebastian has used his Cutie Pat since he was mere hours old, and continues to use them to soothe himself for sleeping. We have about 6 Cutie Pats and several clips. I am very pleased with this company and they are only continuing to introduce more products (most recently cutie tags and utensils). We will be forever loyal customers.
Lindsey, the owner, hosts two sales a year (30-40% off entire website)- in June and November. She has a clip of the week usually for $5 off, always a large clearance selection and other deals. One her site she has a deal now where if you spend $50, use code SAVE15 for a 15% discount. Shipping is free, and priority shipping is $4 too.

Spectra S1 Plus Premium breast pump- I cannot say enough positive things about this pump... it’s hospital grade, and portable. I love that it is rechargeable so I am not tethered to a wall when I need to pump. I can even let the dog outside while pumping, albeit unattractive, you have options. I’ve been able to carry my pump along with me on day trips and use it in my car without any problems. When I return to work I’ll be grateful that I made this purchase. The pump itself isn’t terribly loud, it’s super lightweight and it’s relatively small (fits in a tote easily with all my other necessities).
I recommend buying the pump from amazon with your registry completion discount or at Buy Buy Baby with their 20% off one item- it ends up being about the same price either way. We bought ours from amazon from my hospital room after the overwhelmingly positive recommendations from the nurses. While waiting it's delivery (it was among the black Friday/Thanksgiving hustle) we just rented a pump from the hospital for super cheap (maybe $15/week).

Boppy & Breast Friend Pillows- We utilized each of these pillows, and while I wasn't planning to get both we were gifted the breast friend pillow and I am so grateful for it during those first several weeks of breastfeeding. The boppy is primarily used by my husband to bottle feed Sebastian. I also use the boppy as a "seat alternative" when Seb wants to see what's going on around him without laying down or lack of support.
As far as deals for these, I can't say much as we received them both as a gift- so be sure to include them on your registry. I used Jane.com for some alternative covers for the boppy ($12ish for muslin fabric prints) as well as amazon ($20 for cotton blend fabric covers). I have to say the muslin one, while cute, wasn't an exact match for size and has worn much more quickly than I think I prefer.

Swaddles- Stretchy is best. I registered for muslin ones, and while the prints are adorable I prefer the stretchy jersey material best for our ninjababy. The muslin doesn't allow for a tight, secure swaddle every time- the fabric doesn't give, and it's a bit of a workout to really utilize it well. Sebastian can wiggle his way out of a swaddle in record time, but he's much less successful with the stretchy ones. We have a Jill and Jack swaddle as well as a Rafe & Moose. I'll also say, from a guy perspective, Micha has had a better success rate with the stretchy ones from the beginning. I also have an ergo baby swaddle, some Velcro ones, and sleep sacks that we use intermittently, but can't say I favor them to the stretchy material ones. I wish we had more than two, but can't justify the purchase when we already have so many options. Learn from my over purchase here.

Carriers- We have three and I like them all for very different reasons. Originally I had a Boba, and I like it a lot. My only complaint is that it's a thick fabric (which is great for a secure hold), but it's quite warm. Sebastian and I both sweat a lot when I wear him in this carrier for a long time. This exact con prompted me to buy the KeaBabies carrier, and I like the lightweight feel of it. I also bought (used in great condition) a Wildbird ring sling. I like it a lot, and honest it's my preferred carrier, but Sebastian I feel isn't quite on board with it yet. I tried it once while he was tiny and he hated it, now that he's nearly 12 pounds he likes it better, but he still prefers what we jokingly call the other carriers, the koala/kangaroo pocket.
The carrier is a great option when we are walking downtown and enjoying dinner. I also like to use it in the grocery store so we don't lose cart space. I will babywear around the house as well if my arms are dead and Sebastian is needing more cuddles. I keep a carrier in my bag/car at all times.
The carriers can be a bit of an expense so I bought them with a budget in mind. I purchased the Boba from a Facebook Marketplace ad for $10 brand new. I purchased the Wildbird at a discount through a resell group on facebook, and highly recommend as I wouldn't pay full price for it. I really wanted a sollywrap, but couldn't stomach the expense for a third carrier, so I went with KeaBabies carrier through amazon for about $20.

Dreft Laundry Stain Remover- It's the most effective stain remover we own, point blank. We use it anytime milk or youknowwhat stains Sebastian's clothes. It's super effective in getting out stains in items I was sure was destined for the trash. I highly recommend this stain remover; my laundry room will forevermore be stocked with it.

Tie Knot Gowns by LouLou & Company. I'll start by saying these are pricey and I had to buy my first one on the hope that my husband wouldn't see the invoice. You know what I mean, ladies? I was so certain I would like it I was willing to risk getting caught spending what I claimed I never would on an outfit, on pajamas.... those things that you swaddle in a blanket and no one sees. I believed they would be worth it, and boy was I correct. So much more correct than I was about all the other gowns I had been hoarding. I, personally, cannot stand the elastic bottomed gowns- I thought I would love them, but I was dead wrong. In my opinion they do not make nighttime diaper changes better, muchless the evening or morning ones any less of a hassle.. if anything they made it worse. The LouLou ones are so nice though- buttery soft, stretchy and easy to open and secure again. Sebastian seems to like them as well... my only complaint is that I don't have enough. We have three and I often find myself reaching for them over snap or zip pajamas. I will say that I bought two of them during their black Friday sale, and I am so happy about that. I believe they were 30% off. Watch out for the Monday Markdowns too- especially girl moms looking for bows- they are so cute!
